Big Picture Arts Festival 2018 in the Peoria Warehouse District

Saturday October 13, 2018 was a historic day for Peoria. The first annual Big Picture Peoria Arts Festival splashed through the Warehouse District! We were amazed by Peoria’s talent and support of the arts. Amazing is an understatement!

Over 1500 people came through to enjoy live painting, a chalk art competition, community murals, dancing, singing, a film fest, live music, and street food. The community worked together to complete a collaborative mural while professional, international artist Ard Doko created a spray paint masterpiece, all in the Gabbert Art Park! The chalk art competition transformed our parking lots with windows into other worlds. All proceeds went toward local art education.

We are excited to partner with local businesses and artists again next year to make this festival even bigger and better! Read more here: https://www.bigpicturepeoria.org/. To submit artwork to be featured on our rotating mural wall or to share your ideas for next year’s Big Picture Peoria, please fill in the contact form at the bottom of the page.

We are quite honored to have won the 2018 Better Business Bureau Award for Business Integrity! Thanks to our awesome team and customers and the BBB.

C.T. Gabbert Remodeling & Construction began back in 1978, and for the last 40 years we have tried to go above and beyond expectations for a remodeling and construction company. We pride ourselves on great customer service, attention to detail, and having open lines of communication. We are in business for you – the customer – and we do not let that get pushed to the bottom of our priorities. We take pride in reading our Code of Values every Monday before the works starts for the week, as a reminder to all employees. We consider it an honor to be given this award and also an honor to have done business with so many in the tri-county area these past 40 years. We hope to make new friends and customers along the way as we grow as a company and keep our valued customers happy. They know that we are here for them whenever they need any project done, no matter the size or scope!

Central Illinois homeowners reach out to C.T. Gabbert Remodeling and Construction for comprehensive design-build home remodeling services. Since 1978, the firm has been upgrading homes with its small- and large-scale additions, kitchen and bathroom redesigns, and other remodeling solutions. C.T. Gabbert also offers a showroom in the bustling Peoria Warehouse District and a full-service woodshop where it duplicates and constructs custom cabinetry and millwork.

The firm’s proven process and the team’s attention to detail and open lines of communication, finely tuned over time, culminate in the creation of spaces that marry form and function. One example is this unique kitchen with an accent backsplash. Bold chevron-patterned tile and glass pendant lights over the island give the space a distinct personality. Meanwhile, clean white perimeter cabinets lend contrast to the dark custom island, which provides additional counter space and kitchen seating.

Peoria Magazine’s June 2020 issue, written by Doug & Eileen Leunig, mentions C.T. Gabbert Remodeling and Construction’s amazing work in the art community. Even though the world is on pause, we are looking towards and discussing the future. C.T. Gabbert is a strong supporter of the arts community helping cultivate Peoria’s creative future.

“With nearly 40 public murals in Peoria today, many building owners are already believers. ‘My initial vision was to allow artists who may not be able to show their work in public very easily to have a venue,’ explains Chuck Gabbert of C.T. Gabbert Remodeling & Construction. ‘I created the CT Gabbert Art Park with interchangeable murals in the parking lot of my business. I want to give people a reason to smile, and art does that.’”

Sunny Home Rebuild in Washington, IL

The Felixes lost their home in the November 2013 Washington, IL tornado. Our design-and-build team worked with them to design a compact family friendly home that perfectly fits their needs.

Approaching from the road, visitors notice a brick emblazoned with “Washington Strong” in the front column at the new Felix home. Peoria Brick Company donated these special commemorative bricks to tornado victims. A sunny yellow door trimmed in white perfectly sets off the gray siding. Inside, this 1500 square foot home feels spacious because of its open concept design. The main level consists of a master bedroom, two bathrooms, guest room, mudroom and laundry, kitchen, and family room. The couple’s craft room and wood shop occupy the basement.

Engineered hardwood flooring spans the family room and kitchen. A corner fireplace features mosaic tile and a custom mantle constructed by our carpenters. Our design team chose a greige paint for the walls, a mix of modern, cool gray with the warmth of beige. White trim punctuates the walls for a crisp finish.

At the back of the home, the owners chose a non-traditional sink and dishwasher in the island. Quartz countertops gleam atop white ShowPlace solid wood cabinets. The owner used pieces of his grandfather’s dresser, which was damaged in the tornado, to create a one-of-a-kind light fixture above the island.

Sliding glass doors let in light and showcase the outdoor entertainment area and patio. Cedar lattice provides privacy from the main road for the back of the house. The white synthetic recycled composite railing material holds its color and is virtually maintenance-free.

The family loves spending time with their children and grandchildren in their new home. Mr. and Mrs. Felix say, “We are so thankful for the hard work all of you put into build our new home! From twisting the insurance adjuster’s arm, to designing, selecting materials… and all the finish work, we have a beautiful home we are proud to show off. We love being home!”

Breakfast Bar Kitchen

Mr. and Mrs. Burks wanted a more open concept kitchen to enjoy with family and friends. Mrs. Burks also asked if we could work in some additional countertop surface area. The C.T. Gabbert design team was up for the challenge!

The new kitchen features a streamlined design to maximize space while looking beautiful and modern. Better use of space makes more room for living, with new storage solutions and clean lines.

The extended countertop transitions into the dining room and makes the most of the space in this galley kitchen. The gorgeous countertop is HD Formica! Beautiful grouted luxury vinyl tile complements the ShowPlace solid maple cabinets. The countertop creates a new area for the family to gather, eat breakfast, and watch TV. The subway tile backsplash highlights the great room and kitchen with a subtle “Nautilus” color tone that add a little pop. The carefully chosen color scheme blends perfectly into the existing home and feels like it belongs.

The happy owners love their new kitchen after working with Peoria’s finest wall knocker-outer! See photos of the project in our Kitchens photo gallery under Breakfast Bar Kitchen.

Quilts of Valor

This Sunday, October 11th at 3:00pm we are proud to be hosting a ceremony for our very own Jesse Ward. Jesse has been working at C.T. The Peoria area Quilts of Valor Foundation will be awarding Jesse with his quilt in our art park on Sunday afternoon. Our art park showcases a mural of the quilt he will be receiving. We thank Jesse for his dedicated service to our Country and his work with our company. Quilts of Valor is a distinguished organization that works to bring community and healing to our veterans.
